Het team heeft deze maand een bewogen periode achter de rug. Zo kregen we deze maand het jammere nieuws dat het wereldkampioenschap in Australië niet zal doorgaan dit jaar. Desondanks dit nieuws zijn we volop op zoek naar nieuwe alternatieven, en bereiden we ons voor om te starten met de bouw van de negende Belgische zonnewagen. Ook organiseerden we deze maand de Pitch Bootcamp, een evenement voor jongeren met tal van workshops.

Meer dan 60 jongeren volgden de Pitch Bootcamp 🚀

Voor het tweede jaar op rij organiseerde ons team de Pitch Bootcamp, een dag boordevol interactieve workshops voor jongeren uit het middelbaar. Hier kwamen deelnemers meer te weten over tal van interessante topics, zoals pitchen en project management, en hebben ze hun kennis onmiddellijk in praktijk omgezet via tal van interactieve workshops. Een bijzondere editie, want de Pitch Bootcamp vond dit jaar volledig digitaal plaats. Ondanks dat deze editie online werd gehouden, zorgden de sprekers toch voor een enorm geslaagde editie met zo'n 68 aanwezigen! We bedanken graag Stephane Berghmans (Technopolis), Bart Van Riet (KU Leuven), Steven Van Hemelryck (Colruyt Group), Sophie De Dycker en Tim Thomaes (Orange) voor de interessante presentaties en onderwerpen.

De Pitch Bootcamp maakt deel uit van de Solar Olympics, een jaarlijkse wedstrijd voor het middelbaar onderwijs waarbij jongeren zo creatief mogelijk moeten omgaan met zonne-energie om hiermee een gadget of een mini-zonnewagen te bouwen. In mei zullen de teams hun projecten voorstellen op de grote finaledag, teams die goed opgelet hebben tijdens de Pitch Bootcamp, zullen kans maken om de Pitch Prijs die dag mee naar huis te nemen!

Deze maand ontvingen we het spijtige nieuws dat de World Solar Challenge 2021 in Australië niet zal doorgaan, een pijnlijke klap voor het team dat al sinds het begin van vorige zomer uitkeek naar deze spannende uitdaging. We zijn echter volop op zoek naar een alternatief voor de race in Australië, dit samen met andere Solar Teams van over heel de wereld.

The team has had an eventful period this month, as we received the unfortunate news that the world championship in Australia will not take place this year. Despite this news, we are busy looking for a new alternative and we are preparing to start building the ninth Belgian solar car. This month, we also organised the Pitch Bootcamp, an event for high school students with numerous workshops.

For the second year in a row, our team organised the Pitch Bootcamp, a day full of interactive workshops for high school students. Participants learned more about many interesting topics such as pitching and project management, and immediately put their knowledge into practice through the interactive workshops. A special edition, because the Pitch Bootcamp took place completely digitally this year. Despite the online platform, the speakers still ensured an enormously successful edition with 68 attendees! The Pitch Bootcamp is part of the Solar Olympics, an annual event in which high school students have to be as creative as possible with solar energy to build the best gadget or a mini solar car. In May, the teams will present their projects on the Final Day, teams that paid good attention during the Pitch Bootcamp will have a chance to take home the Pitch Prize that day!

This month we received the unfortunate news that the World Solar Challenge 2021 in Australia will not take place, a painful blow for the team that has been looking forward to this exciting challenge since the beginning of last summer. However, we are hopeful that another equally challenging event can be organised, so we are busy looking for an alternative to the race in Australia, together with other Solar Teams from all over the world.
